START Interns conducted their first Healthcare Academy of the summer at the Oakmont North Community Center! The focus of the program was peer pressure. The START Interns selected this topic because they feel that peer pressure is an issue that affects everybody, from the smallest kindergarten student to the straight-A senior. Activities included group skits to enforce that “no means no” and a game of hot potato to teach that it's okay to be an individual. The Interns are already planning a second Healthcare Academy which will focus on budgeting and financing. They are planning a group activity where teams will plan an imaginary road trip and learn about budgeting for this kind of adventure!
